The short version. First Saff is free. Be truthful and kind, add only what you have the right to share, and treat prayer times and notices as a guide that people keep right together. You can delete your account whenever you like.

Who we are

First Saff is a community app built around the masjid, made by Nijin Muhammed ("First Saff", "we", "us"). These terms apply when you use the First Saff app on any device, the web app at app.firstsaff.com, or firstsaff.com. By using First Saff you agree to them, along with our privacy policy and community guidelines.

Using First Saff

First Saff is free, with no ads and no paid tier. You can browse masjids, prayer times and what's on without an account. To make an account you need to be 13 or older, and to have a parent's or guardian's permission if the law where you live asks for it.

Your account

  • You sign in with Google, Apple or a link sent to your email, so there's no First Saff password to keep.
  • An account is for one person. Use your own name or a name people know you by, and don't pretend to be someone else or speak for a masjid or organisation you don't represent.
  • You're responsible for what's done with your account. If you think someone else has got into it, tell us.

What you add

Masjids, prayer and iqamah times, photos, reviews, events, services, posts, replies and fundraiser notices are yours. By adding them, you give First Saff permission to store, show, copy (for example to resize a photo), adapt to fit a screen, and share them inside the app and on our websites, everywhere and free of charge, so others can use them. This permission lasts while they're on First Saff.

Most of what you add is public, because that's how a masjid's page stays useful. If you delete your account, your public contributions stay without your name, as the privacy policy explains. Add only what you have the right to share, and no photos of worshippers' faces.

Community guidelines and moderation

Everything you add must follow the community guidelines. People nearby confirm changes, and members at higher levels can check them faster. We, and those trusted helpers, may edit, hide or remove anything that breaks the guidelines or these terms, and we may limit or close accounts that do. Every change to a masjid keeps a history, and anything can be reported.

Masjid pages and claims

Claim a masjid's page only if you have a role there, such as imam, committee member or volunteer coordinator. A masjid that claims its page can confirm its own times. We may ask for more before approving a claim, and may remove a claim that turns out to be wrong.

Prayer times and information

Prayer times are worked out on your phone from the method you choose, and iqamah times, events and details are added by people. Both can be wrong or out of date, so check with your masjid when it matters. The Qibla direction depends on your phone's compass, which metal and magnets nearby can throw off. Nothing in First Saff is a religious ruling.

Help, events and fundraisers

Requests for help, events and fundraiser notices come from people and organisations, not from us, and we can't check every one. No money passes through First Saff. Use your own judgement before giving money, sharing your details or meeting someone, and report anything that doesn't look right.

Connectors

Connectors show free services made by others, such as the Quran from AlQuran.cloud or Quran radio from mp3quran.net, each credited and linked to its makers. What they publish belongs to them, and their own terms may apply. They can change or stop, and we may add or remove connectors.

What you mustn't do

  • Break the law, or help anyone else to.
  • Harass or threaten anyone, spread hate, or attack another group or school of thought.
  • Post things you know are false, spam, or advertise in ways the guidelines don't allow.
  • Collect other people's details, or copy First Saff's data in bulk with scripts, except as the licences on our credits page allow.
  • Use bots to post, confirm or vote, try to get around limits or moderation, or try to break into, overload or disrupt First Saff. If you've found a weakness, please tell us.

Map and open data

Some of the data in First Saff, including where masjids are, comes from open sources that have their own licences. They're listed, with their licences, on our credits page.

Our part

We work hard to keep First Saff running and right, but we provide it as it is. We can't promise it will always be available, free of mistakes, or that what people add is accurate. We may change, pause or end features.

As far as the law allows, we aren't responsible for losses that come from using First Saff or from relying on what others have added. Nothing in these terms takes away rights you have by law that can't be taken away.

Leaving, and ending an account

You can stop using First Saff and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms or the guidelines, and we'll tell you why when we can.

Changes to these terms

When these terms change, we'll update the date at the top. If a change matters, we'll tell you in the app before it applies.
