First Saff is a free community app built around the masjid. It started with a simple wish: to know where the next jamaah is, and what's happening at the masjids near you, without asking around.
For generations the masjid has been where a neighbourhood meets: for prayer, for the class on Saturday, for an iftar in Ramadan, for a janazah no family should arrange alone.
Almost none of that life is online. The times are on a noticeboard by the door. The class is in a WhatsApp group you're not in. Finding the right jamaah in a new city still means asking around, or trusting a forward from someone who heard it from someone else.
First Saff puts that life where people can find it: around each masjid, and kept right by the people who pray there.
A saff is the row worshippers stand in. The first saff is the front row, nearest the imam, filled by those who come early.
The Prophet ﷺ spoke of its reward, and told us to straighten our rows. We took the name because it says what we hope the app does: help you get to the masjid early, and help a community stand together, in order, shoulder to shoulder.
The logo is a mihrab arch whose left side is frosted glass, so the solid part reads as a "1". It stands on a gold line: the first row.
See how the logo was drawnStraighten your rows, for straightening the rows is part of establishing the prayer.
The Prophet ﷺ · Sahih al-Bukhari 723, Sahih Muslim 433If people knew what is in the call to prayer and the first row, and found no way to get it but to draw lots, they would draw lots.
These decide what we build and what we leave out. If you ever see First Saff falling short of them, tell us.

What you share with us is a trust. We collect as little as we can, never sell it, and your location stays on your phone.
Anyone can suggest a change and others nearby confirm it. Every change keeps a history, and anything can be reported.
The Quran comes from AlQuran.cloud and hadith from the Hadith API. We name the people whose work we use, and services that haven't agreed stay switched off.
No infinite feeds and no guilt. Open it, find what you need, and get back to your day, or to the masjid.
The big Jama Masjid and the small musalla above a shop. Sisters' spaces too, marked so you know before you go.
First Saff began on 5 October 2026 under another name, Masjid Finder. It has changed a lot since, mostly by listening. Here's each step, by what changed.
Every change, newest firstOne app for iPhone, Android and the web, built with Expo, with a Supabase database, its rules, photo uploads and a first design system.
268,703 masjids on the map, then Google Maps on phones, the masjid page inside the map, an easier way to add a missing masjid, and facilities to confirm.
The app is rebuilt around prayer, with four tabs: Today, Map, Community and You. Community boards, alerts and worship tools arrive.
Free Islamic services inside the app, with credit: the Quran, duas and a hadith of the day. Organisations, sign-up, clear rules for confirming things, and a calmer, plainer app for new users.
Masjid Finder becomes First Saff, at home on firstsaff.com. Soon after, it gets faster: the database moves to Mumbai and photos get their own address.
The mihrab logo goes onto the app icons, store art and a design site. The website moves to firstsaff.com and the web app to app.firstsaff.com.
Rebuilt to show everything that happens around a masjid, not just the map.
The iPhone and Android apps are on their way, insha'Allah. Until then, First Saff works in your phone's browser. See what's next
